Q
What about mixed breeds?
All of our babies are special... LapDog Club welcomes both pure and mixed
breeds.
Q
Will membership require a lot of my time?
There are no participation requirements;
although, naturally, the more your involvement the greater your
social rewards. In fact, members unable
to participate locally will still find great
enjoyment and social connections through LapDogClub.com. Local Chapters are free to conduct activities to the level of interest and capacity
of their Members;
however, Chapters are encouraged to conduct at least three community activities and two
Member functions annually. Although Chapters may conduct
occasional meetings to plan activities,
much of the communication with their Members is handled by email or within
their local sections on LapDogClub.com.
You are not obligated to attend any
meetings.
Q
Membership is free, but are there any
costs?
Local Chapters occasionally may incur nominal costs for certain activities. For example, some communities assess
small fees to participate in holiday
parades or festivals; or, the Chapter
may desire to purchase a mascot costume
or other promotional materials. Lap Dog
Club maintains a reserve fund
(percentage of purchases by Chapter
Members from the Club’s online Boutique)
for each Chapter. The credits may be
used to offset such costs, or the costs
may be proportioned among Chapter
Members.
Q
Since membership is free, how does
the Club make money?
LapDog Club assumes a modest percentage
of sales from its online Boutique, plus
revenue from sponsors and advertisers
who participate in our Classifieds
section and other select marketing
features. We have endeavored to create a
Club environment that minimizes
commercial interference, while
maximizing Member features and community
impact. Our economic model is a solid
format designed for growth and long-term
stability.
Q
Can I transfer my membership to a new Chapter?
Yes, you may transfer at any time by changing the Chapter designation in your private, secure Member
Administration page.
Q
Can I participate in more than one Chapter?
A new feature (coming soon) will enable
you to register as a Guest Member in one
additional Chapter. You may add and
change your home and guest Chapters at
any time in your private Member
Administration section. Understand, however, that you
will be responsible for any requirements
of the host
Chapter as well as your designated home Chapter.
Q
Who manages the Chapters?
Each Chapter elects a Chapter Leader who is responsible for member communication, Chapter organization and
communication with LapDog Club
headquarters. Optionally, Chapter
Leaders may decide to establish other
positions such as treasurer, historian,
publicist, activity coordinators, etc.
With the extensive assistance provided
by our Chapter Support Team,
responsibilities for Chapter
organization and management are few,
casual and lots of fun!
Q
Is this a not-for-profit
organization?
Although the retail aspects of our
online Boutique and various marketing
features preclude not-for-profit status
for our Club, at an appropriate time in
the future we anticipate filing for the
requisite 501C(3) status for our Canine
Lovers Care charity program.
Q
Which charities do you
support?
LapDog Club, through its Canine Lovers
Care charity program, works closely with
its local Chapters to identify local,
regional and national service and relief
organizations committed to the loving
and humane support of animals. Our
charity registration process confirms
the authenticity of each organization.
Once registered, specific charities
share in donations received by the
Chapters that have elected to support
them. All registered charities share 10% of sales
generated by LapDog Club’s online Boutique, plus 100%
of profits from our exclusive Canine Love
Collection (see Charity Love Collection
link on all Boutique pages). Interested charity
organizations may submit our
Charity Registration application for
consideration.
Q
What about risks?
There are inherent risks in every social
setting and interaction with animals.
Members accept
sole personal responsibility for their own actions and those of their animals.
Members are expected to keep their
animals in good health, including timely
vaccinations and ongoing care by
licensed veterinary healthcare
professionals. |
